What we do
Chess Governance
The official governing body for competitive and recreational chess across the Greater Toronto Area.
Represent Nationally
We serve as the regional liaison to the Ontario Chess Association and Chess Federation of Canada, representing our community through democratically elected delegates.
Represent Internationally
Providing the infrastructure and connectivity required to host FIDE-sanctioned events and international chess programs locally.
Organize Tournaments
Delivering excellence in competitive play by overseeing the annual execution of Toronto’s flagship Classical, Blitz, and Rapid tournaments.
Develop Chess
Expanding the reach of the game by providing the resources and training necessary for players and organizers to thrive.

When March 24 – June 2 2025. No play on April 21 Easter Monday) or May 19 (Victoria Day) Rounds start at 7:30.

2026 Toronto Closed Championship

Where Annex Chess Club, 918 Bathurst St., Toronto When April 13 through June 23 2026. Make-up day: June 1. No play on May 18 (Victoria Day). Rounds start at 7:30. Format Hybrid. Championship and Reserve sections are nine-round round robin. Development section is a nine-round Swiss tournament.

2025 Toronto Youth Chess Championship

The Toronto Youth Chess Championship (TYCC) is a CFC-rated tournament for players under 18, returning this year after a multi-year hiatus. This is a serious, competitive event designed for youth who are comfortable with standard tournament conditions, including the use of notation and slower time controls.
