Rounds: 5; Saturday (11am, 2pm, 5pm) and Sunday (10am, 1pm playoff tiebreaks at 3:30pm)

Type: Regular Swiss. Sections may be combined, if required.

Sections: U8 Open, U8 Girls, U10 Open, U10 Girls, U12 Open, U12 Girls, U14 Open, U14 Girls, U16 Open, U16 Girls, U18 Open, U18 Girls 

Qualification: Players with a score of at least 50% will be qualified to compete in the Canadian Youth Chess Championship 

Time Control: G/45 min + 30 sec increment

Entry Fee: $120 (by November 29th, 2026).

Byes: All requested byes will be awarded “0” points

Equipment: All sets, clocks and scoresheets are provided

Organizer: Toronto Chess Centre (TCC) - Chief Arbiter Alex Ferreira

The TCC is a Toronto-based non-profit organization. Its co-founders, FA Alex Ferreira, IM Mark Plotkin and Junior Events Director Panos Tsialas have longtime experience in organizing and directing major chess events in Canada, including the 2025 Canadian Youth Chess Championship, the 2025 Canadian Open, the 2024, 2025 & 2026 Ontario Youth Chess Championship, the Hart House Holiday, Reading Week Open and many more.  The first, revived edition of the TYCC in 2025, was a success with over 100 players.

Prizes

1st Place: Trophy, $250 Bursary towards the Ontario Youth Chess Championship, and $200 Coupon for chess lessons at a recognized chess school

2nd Place: Silver Medal, $100 Coupon for chess lessons at a recognized chess school

3rd Place: Bronze Medal, $50 Coupon for chess lessons at a recognized chess school

If the winner of any given section decides not to attend the 2027 OYCC, their bursary shall be offered to the highest-placed finisher in such section who does attend the provincials and meets the eligibility requirement of 2.5/5.0.

*Only Ontario residents who score at least 50% are eligible for the prizes.
